2. SAN DIEGO MEDCHEM SYMPOSIUM
The 2024 San Diego Medicinal Chemistry Symposium will be held on Friday, July 12, 2024, at the Institute of Americas of UCSD. The symposium is co-organized by the American Chemical Society (ACS), SoCal Association for Biomedical and Pharmaceutical Advancements (SABPA), and the University of California San Diego (UCSD).
This annual event has a long history featuring local medicinal chemistry accomplishments and promoting scientific exchanges among local peers. The past events typically attracted around 200 medicinal chemists and related professionals.

3. Recap of STEM Career Symposium 2024
We are thrilled to announce that the SABPA ECD team, in collaboration with UCSD, successfully hosted the "STEM Career Symposium 2024." The event's Industry Day concluded on May 9th, 2024, at the Center for Neural Circuits and Behavior (CNCB) on the UCSD Campus. This in-person event attracted a total of 113 attendees registration, underscoring a strong interest in STEM career development.
Participants engaged in various activities aimed at enhancing their understanding of and preparedness for careers in the industry. The event began with informative workshops on industry resume writing and interviewing tips and tricks, providing practical advice and strategies for navigating the job market.
The day's highlight was a roundtable discussion featuring industry experts such as Lars Engstrom from BMS, Rachel Toughiri from Takeda, Charvi Nanavati from Pfizer, Austen Michalak from Proteintech Genomics and Afrida Rahman-Enyart from Proteintech. These leaders shared their insights on overcoming challenges in the industry, job search strategies, and the evolving landscape of STEM careers.
